Deleting your Hanko data

Last updated: 15 July 2026

Delete specific data yourself, in the app

Everything you create on Hanko can be removed individually, without deleting your account:

  • Library entries — open the title → “Remove from library”. Its progress, rating, and notes go with it.
  • Reviews — open the title’s Reviews section → delete your review.
  • Episode/chapter comments — delete from the comment itself.
  • Notes and ratings — clear them on the title’s tracking card.
  • Profile details (avatar, username, visibility) — edit or clear in Settings.

Deletions take effect immediately in the app.

Request deletion of anything else

If you want specific data removed that you can’t delete in the app, contact us from Support (or email dev@hanko.live) from the email address on your account, telling us what to remove. We action verified requests within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Delete everything

Settings → Danger zone → “Delete account” removes your account and all of its data: profile, library, ratings, notes, reviews, comments, recommendation history, and any active subscription is cancelled. This is immediate and irreversible.

What is deleted, what is kept

  • Deleted immediately from live systems: the data you removed (or, for account deletion, everything listed above including your login identity).
  • Expires automatically: residual copies in encrypted database backups, within 30 days.
  • Kept where the law requires: payment records held by our payment processor (tax/accounting retention), and moderation or takedown records where we have a legal obligation to retain them.
  • Not yours alone: catalogue data (titles, covers, descriptions) isn’t personal data and stays.

More detail on retention and your rights is in the Privacy Policy.
